Lisbon is perhaps Europe’s most pleasant and affordable city. Its fantastic architecture, diverse population, delicious seafood, intriguing tile-work and non-stop night-life bring together the best elements of Portuguese life.

It has a population around of 575,477, and the Lisbon Metropolitan Area in total has around 2,800,000 inhabitants, the largest urban agglomeration of Portugal.

In the town of Lisbon exists in its strong links to the past, renovated palaces, magnificent churches and an impressive castle mirror the city's rich cultural heritage. Lisbon is known for thrilling nightlife, in the last few years it has become recognized as Europe's gambling centre, due to its two huge casinos.

"You can't come to Lisbon and not experience fado," someone will say it to you at least once when you visit Lisbon. And that someone would be right. Fado is a form of Portuguese music with melodious and mournful tones. The songs evoke saudade (or sentiment). Having dinner at a cozy restaurant in the Alfama district while listening to melodious live music is a perfect wind-down activity for any evening. A group of men and women take turns singing while folks enjoy their food. For the best, head to Casa de Linhares at Bacalhau de Molho. Tip: Reservations are recommended, and you must be silent during the performances.

Lisbon also have a great number of remarkable museums of modern and ancient art, some of which are Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, National Museum of Contemporary Art, National Coach Museum, and Carmo Archaeological Museum. However, Lisbon isn't all history and culture, Bairro Alto is the center of nightlife with various bars and restaurants where melancholic traditional Portuguese music, Fado, can also be listened.

Lisbon, one of the oldest European capital, founded on seven hills and embraced by the Tagus, known for its melancholic Fado music and all its nostalgia. Lisbon invites you to take a walk along its wide avenues and its traditional districts. Soak up the atmosphere in this City of Sun.
