Italy is a country which has lots of history, so when you visit in every city you will visit, you'll find something about past.
One of the easiest way to travel Italy is... book a Ferry (traghetti in Italian...) from several Italian ports to Italian islands of Sardinia, Elba or Sicily. Elba, the pearl of the Tuscan Archipelago gives the sensation of so much in so little as in the small spaces of the island we travel over tourist attractions and natural landscapes of big contrast.
The main Italian ports of embarkation for the large islands of Sicily and Sardinia are: Genoa, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Fiumicino, Naples and Villa San Giovanni. There are many services linking the islands by sea to the mainland: the main links are by car ferries and hydro-foils. In addition, ships from all the countries around the Mediterranean are moored in the well-equipped Italian ports.
Urbino is a town in the beautiful Marche region. It's very small, it was built on a hill and it is famous for its art and history. In urbino you can find the beautiful PALAZZO DUCALE (please google it!! is one of the most beautiful renaissance buildings of Italy!!). Urbino is the town where the painter Raffaello was born, it is situated in the beautiful landscape of the Marche and just a few kilometres far from the sea.
GUBBIO (Umbria region) - It is a suggestive medioeval town ubicated on a hill at the foot of a mountain. The legend of Saint Frances of Assisi, "the wolf of Gubbio" was set in this beautiful town. There you can visit the CHIESA DI SAN GIOVANNI, IL TEATRO ROMANO, IL PALAZZO DEI CONSOLI. Gubbio is famous for its folk feast "LA CORSA DEI CERI". You can see many pictures on google about it. It's one of the most ancient italian folk traditions.
Also in Umbria you can visit PERUGIA, but I also suggest the villages of SPOLETO, SPELLO and TREVI (they are all medioeval and all upon a hill)
CALDAROLA - It's also in the Marche (personally I think that the Marche region is probably one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL REGIONS of ITALY which is still a "hidden pearl" for tourists). Caldarola is a fantastic medioeval village, there you can visit the beautidul medioeval castle: CASTELLO PALLOTTA..Caldarola is immersed in the peaceful countryside of the Marche.
Another most popular destinations for those travelling to Italy is that of Vatican City. Most people do not know that this is a sovereign city-state. This means that it makes its own rules and has its own governing system independent of the Italian system. Vatican City is a walled state within the city of Rome. It is the smallest independent state in the whole world with only a little over 100 acres.
You can enter the Vatican City through the famous St. Peter’s square. This square is characterized by great Baroque architecture from the 1600’s and includes symbols of the church motherly embracing its people in its arms. St. Peter’s Basilica is another place you can visit in the Vatican City while on your Italy vacation because it is also found in St. Peter’s square. It is the most notable building in Vatican City and this church’s dome can be seen for miles around Rome.
There are several other places to see here during your Italy vacation. The largest museum in the world is also found in Vatican City. It has over 1400 rooms and galleries that represent 3000 years of art. The Sistine Chapel is also found here and is known for being the private chapel that the cardinals go to when electing a new Pope.
Italy Travel Notes :
you can't go to the beach in winter! it is cold. if you want have a swim you mast go at the sea on summer. for example June July or August.
One of the best beach on the peninsula is probably the Ponte Libia in Genova. It is known for its fine, grey sand and beautifully coloured waters and great views over the departing maritime traffic.
